Mosquitoes Can Carry a Tune

Monday Mosquito Fact: In musical terms, the female mosquito sings a G and the male sings a D. As the male mosquito approaches the female, it adjusts its wing beat to a frequency an octave and a half below a standard A, to form a “perfect fifth” with the female wingbeat (click the video to hear this). The perfect harmony is a signal that the male and female mosquito are right for each other and mating will proceed. Charming as that is, if you would prefer that this beautiful moment not happen on your property, give us a call!
