Celebrate 4th of July with Mosquito Squad!

Our favorite holiday is right around the corner.  Yes, the 4th of July is Mosquito Squad’s favorite holiday!  Summer means warm weather, grilled food, everlasting days and warm nights!  No other holiday embraces these summer gifts more than the 4th of July.  And, when you add fireworks. . .who wouldn’t agree it is a fabulous holiday?

It does come with one large downfall – mosquitoes.  Who enjoys being eaten alive as beautiful fireworks light the sky?  No one, but you need not suffer.  Mosquito Squad can keep those pesky mosquitoes at bay.  A mosquito control barrier spray will keep unwanted guests from crashing your festivities.  (However, they can’t help with unwanted relatives or neighbors!)

Here are some of our favorite ideas for an awesome 4th of July get together:

Food – Let’s face it, food can make all the difference at any party.  However, you don’t want to spend the majority of your party in the kitchen.  Think about things you can make prior to your guests arriving to allow you more time to socialize.  One of our favorites is black bean and corn salsa that can be served with tortilla chips or as a side salad.  It’s simple:  mix the following ingredients and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving:  1 cup thawed frozen corn, 1 can black beans (drained and rinsed), 1 chopped tomato, 1 chopped scallion, ¼ cup chopped red onion, 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro, 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil and the juice from one lime.  Yummy!

Fresh fruit is always nice at a barbecue, but to make it a little more festive, think red, white and blue.  By taking a rectangle platter and doing rows of red fruit (strawberries, raspberries, watermelon) and semi-white fruit (pineapple, banana, grapes) and adding a square of blueberries at the top, your fruit platter becomes a decoration.

For a beverage, try this Red, White and Blue Sangria from RecipeGirl.com.  Just the look is enough to entice any patriot into a cup!

Décor – Anything red, white and blue goes.  To add some color and light, take old food jars to make centerpieces.  You can buy colored sand at a nearby craft store and layer red, white and blue in the jars.  Top with a candle and you’re done!

Use your plates, napkins and utensils as decorative accents.  There are always patriotic themed items at many local grocery and super stores.

Games – ladder ball, bean bag toss, washers, and bocce ball are all great outdoor games.  It doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive to be fun.  Three legged race and water balloon toss are tried and true favorites.

Details – A barrier spray from Mosquito Squad to keep your guests safe, comfortable and able to enjoy a great evening.

Happy Independence Day to one and all from Mosquito Squad!
