Ehrlichiosis- The Latest in Serious Tick-borne Diseases

With 25 cases identified in Minnesota and Wisconsin in the last two years and many more gone undiagnosed, Ehrlichiosis gives us another reason to despise ticks. Worse yet, unlike the distinguishable bullseye rash left by Lyme's Disease, Ehrlichiosis leaves no visible rash. Even more dangerously, symptoms of infection begin ocurring almost immediately after the bite. For more information, check out last night's WCCO story at http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2011/08/03/new-tick-borne-disease-identified-in-minnesota-wisconsin/ and KTTC's story at http://www.kttc.com/story/15204570/mayo-clininc-finds-new-bacteria-causing-tick-borne-illness.
